Biography

Tim Alivaktuk is a printmaker and artist based out of Panniqtuuq (Pangnirtung), NU. He began drawing at a young age and became serious about his art during his teenage years. On top of printmaking Alivaktuk carves most often working with soapstone, antler and bone as his predominant mediums. He also makes traditional tools such as ulu's and saliguut (seal skin scrapers) to name a few.

His print 'Tagging Along' (2018) shows an Inuk riding a kayak and looking towards the large ice sheets that make up the background of the print. Another figure lies on the flatbed of the kayak, joining along for the ride. Alivaktuk's prints are part of the 2018 Pangnirtung Print Collection.
