Watt Scholarship

The Watt Scholarship was established in 1995 and is awarded annually to eight Inuit in Canada currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution with a demonstrated interest in art, history and culture. Each scholarship provides $2,500 to assist, support and encourage Inuit in their pursuit of post-secondary studies in Inuit art and culture. The IAF funds this scholarship in partnership with Indspire as part of their Building Brighter Futures program.

To apply, please register and submit your application through Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures online portal. Your application will require your current post-secondary institution, program of study, expected date of completion and scope of studies concerning Inuit art and culture. After submitting your application, Indspire will then match you to the Watt Scholarship. 

Students are eligible for the Watt Scholarship once per academic year. Applications will stay valid for all three of the deadlines, so you only need to complete the application once per academic year to be considered for all the Watt Scholarship deadlines as well as all applicable bursaries, scholarships, and awards offered at Indspire.
