Niore Iqalukjuak

Niore Iqalukjuak is a Kangiqtugaapik (Clyde River), NU based photographer, hunter and community leader [1]. In his photographic practice, he focuses on documenting vibrant community scenes, stunning landscapes, Arctic wildlife and much more. Iqalukjuak’s work has been exhibited in Canada and internationally. One of his most celebrated photographs of an illuminated igloo was shown as part of Floe Edge: Contemporary Art and Collaborations from Nunavut in London, England. The same photograph was also displayed on the tail of a First Air plane [2]. 

Iqalukjuak appeared in the Winter 2016 issue of the Inuit Art Quarterly in the article “Eye on the Arctic: Six Photographers to Watch.” In the accompanying interview, he explained in the accompanying interview, his drive to try and capture images of the land, wildlife and people that communicate how amazing the North is, just by looking at them [3]. Iqalukjuak is also credited for his involvement in his community and sharing his photography to draw attention to social issues such as food security. He has also participated photography workshops in Ikpiarjuk (Arctic Bay), NU to expand his skills [4].
