Biography

Ashoona Ashoona is a rising artist based in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), NU who works as a carver, printmaker and graphic artist. Born to an artistic family Ashoona learned to carve by watching and copying his father [1] and became a full-time artist at age 22.

Ashoona started as a stonecutter in 2012 and continues to work turning drawings to prints in the Kinngait studios. Ashoona was part of the team who built a collaborative work for the Inuit Circumpolar Council meeting in 2014.
