Raeann Brown is a visual artist, clothing designer and entrepreneur from Nunatsiavut. Born in Montreal, QC, and growing up in Postville, NL, Raeann Brown now lives with her family in Wabush, NL, where she owns her own business, Inuky Glass Art. Inspired by her culture from an early age, Brown has been creating art for as long as she can remember, originally starting with poetry and beginning to learn the art of glass etching in 2012. Today, Brown etches and paints a wide range of products, such as wine glasses, mirrors, ornaments, patio doors and more. She also offers classes in her community teaching the basics of etching to private groups and other organizations. Brown’s work has been featured in exhibitions such as 2015 Nunatsiavut Community exhibition and the 2019 Labrador Winter Games, and belongs to many private collections as well. In 2018, she was asked to create commemorative gifts for residential school survivors for a national event held in North West River. Currently, Brown sells her work from her Facebook page and website and ships throughout Canada; her work is also sold at boutiques throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, and she is is a frequent vendor at fine art and craft fairs. Earlier this year she launched her children’s clothing line, Precious Panik, and her first book, The Colours of our Culture - a colouring book for adults based on Inuit stories - is due to be released this spring.
