Join the IAF for a very special conversation between celebrated interdisciplinary artist Mark Igloliorte and Director of the Feheley Fine Arts Gallery, Patricia Feheley, C.M.

They will be discussing many of the most important aspects and intricacies of the artist-dealer relationship, based on their ongoing working relationship and their extensive industry experience over the years. Gain perspectives on how to go from consignments and group shows to solo shows, the differences between public and commercial galleries, and what it’s like working with more than one gallery at a time.

The conversation will center on building a foundation of communication and trust between Inuit artists and dealers, and advancing Inuit artist self-determination.

Mark Igloliorte

Mark Igloliorte (1977- Corner Brook, NL) is an interdisciplinary artist who utilizes painting, as well as performance and installation. Igloliorte is described as an observational artist, who continuously frames and reframes the world around him, not settling on one perspective. His enthusiasm for skateboarding, kayaking, and surfing inform the perspectival shifts he employs in his work. Igloliorte first learned to skateboard at the age of 16 when his family moved back to Corner Brook, Newfoundland after having spent most of his childhood in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Since this point, skateboarding has played a prominent role in his practice-based art making. This is furthered by his interest in bringing to the surface the inherent indigenous roots of skateboarding, which is an offshoot of surfing, a practice started by the Na Kanaka Maoli.
Pat Feheley

Pat Feheley has been involved with Inuit art since childhood. She visited Kinngait, Nunavut, for the first time in 1969, and since then has travelled extensively throughout the Arctic on a continuous basis. Throughout the years Pat has absorbed a deep first-hand knowledge of contemporary arts in Inuit communities, developing many long-standing relationships with artists along the way. Since establishing Feheley Fine Arts in 1992, Pat’s mission as Director has been to promote contemporary Inuit art and artists to national and international audiences.
