Ilisarniq Workshop: Copyright for Artists 101

Tuesday, September 5, 2023
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
(EDT)

In Collaboration With:
Inuit Futures

Someone’s using a design I posted on social media, are they allowed to do that?

Are watermarks an effective way to protect my work?

Is my work automatically copyrighted?

If you’re an artist or arts worker, chances are you’re dealing with copyright issues on a regular basis. So, we’ve pulled together a stellar panel of experts, including a lawyer and representatives from CARFAC, who will be walking through the basic elements of copyright law in Canada, and kick all the legal jargon to the curb!

The discussion will focus on the specific challenges that Inuit artists might encounter in preserving and safeguarding the unique heritage of Inuit artistic expressions.

Submit your questions to the experts in advance via Facebook, Instagram or by email at [email protected], and the panel will work them into the discussion of best practices for protecting your artwork and career.
