Biography

Naomi Hikoalok is an up-and-coming artist and seamstress from Iqaluktuuttiaq (Cambridge Bay), NU. Hikoalok learned how to sew from her grandmother and in 2010 began working full-time on her art. [1]

Hikoalok's body of work includes beautiful wall-hangings, mittens and kamiks and she cites her grandmother as the inspiration for all of her work. Hikoalok longs to pass the knowledge of traditional sewing on to future generations just as her grandmother passed it on to her. [2] Hikoalok has been attending the Nunavut Arts Festival for the past few years as an artist.
