Morgan Flowers-Winters

Morgan Flowers-Winters is a self-taught artist who grew up in a family that encouraged her art practice. Her grandmother, renowned Inuk artist, Nellie Winters is a noted inspiration to Flowers-Winters, “She literally can do anything; paint, sew, embroider, caribou tufting, and the list goes on. She makes me proud to be an Inuit artist.” This culture of creation guided Winters to embark on her own artistic journey.

Flowers-Winters enjoys taking commissions for graphite pencil portraits, an art she has honed since 15 years old. Her skilled technique and approach to portraying faces and capturing personalities is realistic; a fine blend of softness, sincerity and strength. Additionally a textile artist, Flowers-Winters also crochets and sews blankets of sealskin and wool, marrying two materials in quilted artworks while simultaneously working in antler, bone and clay to create earrings since 2017. Her wearable art is embellished with paintings of traditional imagery such as Inuit tattoo designs, uluit and inuksuit, sealing it all with a UV cured top coat. Sharing her collections of finely crafted jewelry to Facebook, people are eager to obtain the new wares. [1]
