Maggie Napartuk

Biography

Maggie Napartuk is a printmaker and artist from Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, QC who is currently based out of Inukjuak, Nunavik, QC. Napartuk's artistic practice is wide and consists of metalwork, jewellery making, illustration and graphic arts, as well as printmaking, particularly linocut printmaking [1]. Her bold monochromatic prints reflect the endurance of Inuit traditions while celebrating the relationships between landscapes and their inhabitants [2]. She is one of a small growing number of linocut printmakers in Nunavik.

In July of 2016, Napartuk received a grant from the Aumaaggiivik Nunavik Arts Secretariat to undertake a linocut printmaking workshop with Lyne Bastien in Montreal in July 2016. Napartuk is an active member of her community working with Inuit youth and emerging artists in Nunavik. She has also taken part in numerous workshops across Nunavik and Quebec to learn about as well as share printmaking skills.
