Enook Manomie

Biography

Enook Manomie was a multimedia artist born in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), NU. Manomie is known for his sculptures, drawings, prints and jewellery. He developed his skills by observing his father, who was a well-known sculptor. Manomie started carving in his teens and favoured subject matter such as arctic wildlife [1]. 

Manomie's work was featured in a number of solo exhibitions in Toronto, where he launched his career. His artwork is held in the collections of major institutions such as the National Gallery in Ottawa, ON and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Enook Manomie, artiste multimédia, est né à Kinngait (Cape Dorset) au Nunavut. Il a acquis certaines de ses compétences en observant son père, le célèbre sculpteur Mannumi Shaqu. Le sujet de prédilection de Manomie était la faune arctique, qu’il a explorée à travers différents médias, dont la sculpture, le dessin, l’estampe et les bijoux. Le travail de Manomie a fait l’objet de plusieurs expositions individuelles à Toronto, où il a lancé sa carrière. Ses œuvres font partie des collections de grandes institutions telles que le Musée des beaux-arts du Canada à Ottawa (Ontario) et le Musée des beaux-arts de Winnipeg (Manitoba).
